Meet Jonathan
Jonathan McCrea is an award-winning science and technology broadcaster. He hosts Futureproof, Newstalk’s flagship science programme, has presented 10 Things to Know About on RTÉ One, and writes for Silicon Republic on what AI actually means for Irish business.
He founded Whipsmart Media, a communications consultancy working with the medical, pharmaceutical and science sectors, and he hosts many of Ireland’s biggest technology events, including World Summit AI, the Deloitte Fast 50, TechFest and Enterprise Ireland’s Disruptech. He sits on the advisory board of the Science Media Centre Ireland.
He has also worked in enterprise technology, as Network Manager for BT Ireland and Information Security Officer for Siemens Ireland. That is why the data protection and AI policy side of this work is not an afterthought.
Explaining complicated things to people who are short on time is the job he has always done. AI training is that same job with a different subject. We teach a skill rather than sell a product, and the best way to learn AI is by doing rather than watching demos.
